“This is a trap that a lot of people fall into,” he told The Verge. Points off for a scene with Jason Todd that makes him look like an idiot, although admittedly that’s not exactly a difficult task. The characters in a romantic show, especially a harem, are its driving force, and I feel like this is where Strike The Blood’s mediocrity prevails. What this show does well, and likely the biggest reason to why I enjoyed it, was the characters. The reason why I don’t like you is because I love you. Nowadays, though, it’s all about the trade, and so a story like this, that might have been interesting at half the length, gets stretched out and super-sized so much that it becomes bloated and boring, and parts that would have seemed cool – the thing in Maximus’s head, say – get lost in all the padding. The story ends. That sounds like a weird statement, but most of you know that in many Anime series that doesn’t happen and it’s always a letdown when this occurs. It’s been – what, over 15 years of this crap now? After singles victories over former partner Carter and Alex Riley, Graves faced Conor O’Brian in a number one contender’s match; the match ended in a no contest after The Shield attacked both men, and Graves later lost in a triple threat number one contender’s match.

If you feel this might spoil things for you, skip over the next paragraph. ATTENTION: The next paragraph talks about the ending. It is the ending you will likely suspect part of the way through watching the series with a few twists and turns before it gets there. I will say, I enjoyed the mere presence of almost every single character in this show. Technically, the show is quite decent. Without spoiling too much, the show begins with a standard romantic, almost love at first sight affair, but quickly turns into a comedic tale about a yaoi relationship. The first of the two protagonists is Izumi, the more feminine character of the relationship, and the youngest member of a family of world class entertainers. A few side characters, like the First Progenitor, could have been really interesting, but they were sort of put on the back burner to all of the romance going on. Satou’s upperclassman (senpai) Kashiwa Hitomi is a complete conspiracy nut like Satou. Satou is your “typical” conspiracy nut shut-in (or what you would imagine one would act and feel like). He is a complete conspiracy nut who believes a giant organization encompassing the whole planet called the N.H.K.

Himeragi, the female lead, is the most developed, and she undergoes the most noticeable character development in the whole show. This is the sort of show I’d recommend to someone who wanted to shut off their brain for a while, watch some cool magic, and see a couple panty shots. Not particularly, but for what the show is trying to accomplish, (Displaying the relationship between the main characters.) it is quite serviceable. We get to see all the trails and tribulations he goes through, whether it be with the relationship between him and the other protagonist, which I’ll get to in a sec, or the constant tension with his family, who almost sees him as a lost cause. As the masculine man in the relationship, is it his duty to take charge and progress the relationship along, and this works to create a dynamic between the two characters that I personally found quite entertaining to watch.
